Response to On ****Media
What I got out of this reading is that "Post Media" is a form of art that has been created because of all the other types of art that exist like mass media, multimedia, cross media, intermedia, new media, and digital media. However, Hovagimyan's argument is that currently we are straying away from these art forms and taking a more technological approach to convey a message, which he calls "Post Media". He also states that this new form of art is one that is unlike the others because after this stage no other preceding art forms will replicate the next since complicated algorithms will arrange codes that are forever unique. I somewhat disagree with this because everything in life changes, but somehow the happens to stay past present. For instance, in the fashion new styles are always being created however, in each collection of a designers work there is inspiration that comes from the past. Therefore, I think just because we are steering away from the previous art forms I think this new form and the ones to follow are going to be influenced or inspired by those previous art forms, thus will still be "replicated" in some way.
